Barack Obama Endorses Becky Greenwald

This diary touches upon the many reasons why this election is special, and why we need to send the first women in Iowa history, Becky Greenwald, to Congress.

In case you missed Barack Obama's rally in Des Moines, you missed quite an event.

Ignoring for a moment the fact that it was possibly the largest rally in Iowa history.  Ignoring for a moment that it came at the end of one of the longest political campiagns in American history.  Ignoring for a moment that this could be the last rally before our tens of thousands of volunteer hours pay off and help to turn Iowa blue. This was a special event.

Before Barack spoke, we heard froma long line of local, state, and national Democrats who are already holding office, or who are running for office.

But I consider the most important of all the speeches from Becky Greenwald, who is running to beat Tom Latham in Iowa's 4th Congressional District.

This race, and the tightening of poll numbers, further strengthen my resolve to get at least 100 new supporters out to vote on Tuesday.  We have a chance to send the first female in Iowa history to Congress.  THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY WE CAN'T LET US PASS UP.

Barack Obama Endorses Becky Greenwald

The race for Iowa's 4th Congressional District is one of the most important and historic races we have seen in Iowa in a very very long time.

Everyone was amazed when Barack Obama was selected by a state with an extremely high percentage of white voter (upwards of 95%)… but one thing that not enough people are talking about… we've never elected a woman to Congress!

Visit Becky's website and consider making a small donation, she is making a final push to kick Tom Latham out of congress and we need to all come together to make this happen.

Here are a few reasons why Tom Latham should NOT be in Congress:

He has voted with George Bush 94% of the time…

He has consistently attempted to balance the budget on the backs of students, veterans, and seniors.

He cast the deciding vote against giving a fifteen hundred dollar bonus to U.S. service members serving in Iraq or Afganhistan

He voted to cut the student loan program by over twelve billion dollars and opposed lowering the interest rates charged on student loans.

He has been a rubber stamp for Iraq War funding

He supports tax breaks to companies that send jobs overseas

He is opposed to stem cell research

He was given a “D” by the National Education Association

Voted to extend tax cuts for big oil

Voted for changes to Ethics rules that were intended to specifically protect the now convicted felon, Tom Delay.

After the 2000 redistrcting, Iowa's 4th Congressional district is vulnerable to a Democratic takeover, and Becky Greenwald has a chance to win this seat.

Let's send the first woman from Iowa to congress, and send a message to rubber stamp Republicans!
