I’m curious for your thoughts. As you know, I blog over at Political Forecast, treating it as my home blog. But I also want to make Bleeding Heartland be the best political and community blog in Iowa. My question for you then is whether or not I should haul over my posts from Political Forecast over here, or should I write other unique stuff here and kind of go back and forth? Or should I theme my writing here?
Let me know your thoughts and ideas. Thanks.

Some of the time...
Okay… I’m an interloper. I’m from Connecticut. Probably the closest I’ve ever gotten to Iowa so far is watching presidential campaigns get started in Iowa and singing along to Dar Williams. I’m very excited to watch Bleeding Heartland as it develops.
Back in Connecticut, I blog all over the place. We have a Soapblox based community blog called MyLeftNutmeg. We had a lot of people visit it this year as Ned Lamont challenged Joe Lieberman. (I was the technology coordinator for Ned’s campaign.)
I’ve also written for Greater Democracy, which is what got me my credentials to blog at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and I post diaries at DailyKos, MyDD and various other sites, including John Edwards’ blog. (I’m an Edwards supporter, and if possible just might become a staffer.)
I say all of this as background to talk about cross posting. I cross post fairly liberally. Depending on what the topic is, I’ll put things up on different blogs, but I always try to keep a copy on my personal blog, Orient Lodge.
Sometimes I link back to Orient Lodge, sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I put it just on Orient Lodge. Sometimes I put it on another blog. Sometimes, I simply refer back to an article at Orient Lodge in my comments to a different post, if someone has already posted something similar in MyLeftNutmeg.
Bottom line, IMHO: Cross post, add comments pointing to the original blog post and/or anything else you can do as to enrich the discussion.

My Left Nutmeg
You guys really set the bar on blog names. If it wasn’t for you this would probably be something lame ass like Iowa Liberal or whatever.

great advice
Thanks so much, Aldon, for your comments. It is really helpful to hear thoughts from people like you who have a bit more experience in these things than I do. I’ll definitely take your thoughts to heart.

I think
that it’s a fine idea, Chris. One thing I might consider is whether you want your Political Forecast posts to be more national in scope or local? Or vice versa?

why not?
Just don’t duplicate all of the posts, or else no one will have a reason to check Political Forecast anymore…
