Seven Republican presidential candidates are debating in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight. CNN invited eight candidates, but former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman declined to participate “because of a dispute between New Hampshire and Nevada election officials over the date of Nevada’s primary.” His absence will leave a bit more speaking time for former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, Texas Governor Rick Perry, Representatives Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul, former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum.
If you watched the debate, please share your thoughts about winners and losers. Anyone else should feel free to comment on the GOP primary race in this thread.

Perry could have made his points about illegal immigration in a much calmer fashion. He could have made up some ground against Romney if he had made these important points against Romney in past debate. Perry looked desperate this time now that he decided not to mail it in.
Herman Cain’s answer of “everybody else is wrong” is only going to last a little while. Gingrich or Romney could have made mince meat of his 9-9-9 deal, but they don’t really want to upset Cain and his supporters.
To be honest with you I thought maybe Ron Paul would jump on the national sales tax and embrace it, dude still tries to stay ideologically pure as if 2013 is going to be the year of no federal taxes of any kind.
Gingrich admitting he supported a national mandate was funny after trying to act like he couldn’t hear Romney was amusing to me as well.

I thought Cain did well
during the second half of the debate, though.
I agree that Perry sounded desperate at times. He seems to be the worst communicator in the group, which surprises me. I don’t think employing an undocumented immigrant for some time will be enough to sink Romney.
