This morning I decided to go see Mitt Romney speak at the Cedar Rapids Victory Headquarters here in Iowa.
Mitt talked about economy– nothing special happened…
THEN I SAW THE MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN AN OFFICIAL CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS.
**UPDATE** Notice the Crescent in the NOPE image below. It's the symbol of Islam, and this sticker attempts to continue the smear that Barack is a closet Muslim.
I'm starting to calm down, but this is not just some normal slander we see behind the scenes. It's prominently displayed in this campaign office.
**UPDATE x2** I'm not a Muslim– but I know plenty of Muslims– and i know that there is nothing wrong with being proud of your faith– but I'm offended that Republicans would try and denigrate not only a religion, but a tolerant man (who happens to be a Christian) who is attempting to raise us beyond these issues that are only highlighted to tear us apart.
This is a picture of their office printer:

Want some perspective on where the printer was located?
(notice the huge picture of Bush)
How can an official headquarters in one of the most populated cities in Iowa, one that was being visited by one of John McCain's highest profile surrogates, Mitt Romney, allow something like THAT to be displayed in their office.
I'm honestly surprised that they didn't search me and then try and water board me.
This started off as a day where I had some time to check out an influential Republican, who has an impressive economic record, by visiting an office a few blocks from my house. It ended up being one of the most disturbing political events I've ever witnessed.
Please contact KCRG news (the biggest in Cedar Rapids) and ask them to visit this office.

I thought Colin Powell said it well
on Meet the Press. Referring to the whispering campaign that Obama is a Muslim, he said that the right answer is that’s not true–Obama is a Christian.
But the other right answer is, so what if he is a Muslim? What’s wrong with some 7-year-old Muslim kid in America growing up thinking that he might be able to be president someday? Powell also mentioned Muslims who are serving our country in the armed forces.
I think they resort to these rumors and personal attacks because they know they are out of step with most Americans on the issues.

they've long tried to portray Democrats
as hostile to Christians. In 1994 I volunteered for Bonnie Campbell’s gubernatorial campaign. She is not only a Christian, but a regular church-goer.
I remember taking phone calls from people asking if it was true that she wanted to ban Catholic schools. How ridiculous. First of all, the governor can’t ban Catholic schools. Second, her own husband was educated in Catholic schools. There was no basis for this rumor, but it was being spread in a coordinated way.
I have contempt for these Republican tactics. Decent Republicans like Jim Leach never stooped to that kind of campaigning.

The Kitchen Sink
They are trying to throw the kitchen sink at Obama on a daily basis. My brother is a registered independent and he gets mailings linking Obama to Rezko and Ayers every day. Here’s a link if you would like to read about it:

which is why it's going to be nice
to see Obama win big in heavy turnout conditions. The Republicans keep going back to the same well of smears and scare tactics, but it is not going to work.
