I am very tired of all these William Meyer's “supporters” coming out of the wood work.
I was actively involved in William's campaign since January and I remember contacting every Democratic legislator, not only in the district, but in the whole state, telling them about the campaign. I set up and managed networking sites for Meyers. I spent countless hours getting a hold of new and young voters and getting them the needed material to register to vote. I remember spending 3.80/ a gallon of gas
And now I come here and see all the crap that is posted, supposedly by Meyer's supporters, and I am sorry for my language but it offends me to no end!
William Meyers came from nothing and finished a respectible third in this hotly competitive race. But he did much more than that. William incoorperated many disenfranchised voters and many former Republican voters behind his candidacy.
He also brought veterans issues into the forefront, which truly moved me to action. And many other have been moved too.
I dont want to make this too long, so I will finish up quickly…
William Meyers is a close personal friend of mine, and I know that he doesnt condone the malicious posts on here. As I have said before, he is for Democrats Helping Democrats, and will no doubt be doing everything he possibly can to elect Becky Greenwald to the US Congress.

However, I am concerned about what his website says now at http://www.meyersforhouse.com.
If you are in fact a good friend of his, please try to talk him out of an independent run, both for his own sake and the sake of the voters.
There are many of us who supported other candidates who didn’t win the primary, and we have accepted that for the good of the party and the voters. Those candidates have accepted the results as well. We can only imagine the chaos that would arise if every candidate ignored the final tally and chose to run as an independent.
Please ask Mr. Meyers not to run as an independent and to challenge his energy somewhere else where he can be effective.

some of these supporters
showed up on this blog for the first time ever yesterday, and came from the same IP address as a longtime commenter.
That is why I wrote the front-page piece about sockpuppets.
I agree with abkad that William Meyers is making a terrible mistake if he pursues an independent bid for Congress. He would do better to build for a future in Democratic Party politics in this state.

Demwebs?
Does anyone know what “demwebs” is? Google gives me nothing, and I mean nothing.
I see that his website carries this watermark logo, “powered by demwebs” with the bucking donkey as part of their logo. I wonder if that is somehow hosting affiliated by the Democratic party? Because if it is, they won’t keep his website up for much longer.
Or perhaps it’s an independent company that specializes in democrat candidate websites?
Just curious.

Your work is appreciated.
Anyone who has ever done that kind of work on behalf of any candidate of any party respects the often thankless tasks you’ve done.
The issues you obviously cared about are important. Your work, as much as Mr. Meyers, helped push this issues to the forefront. It’s the guy who makes phone calls and punches doorbells that makes the biggest difference.

Support Becky
I voted for Meyer’s in the primary. I do believe he would have beaten Latham. The thing is he lost. Becky was organized and used free media to help get her message out. Meyer wouldn’t use free media such as press releases to the local newspapers. We all need to get behind Becky and help her defeat Latham. All Meyer is going to do if he goes independent is help Latham get back in the House.

Press Releases
were sent out by William Meyers. How do I know? I was there. I helped send them out. Did the media come through for William? NO Did we expect them to print every single thing we sent? NO
We were/are realist and know that not every press release will be printed or every picture published. What we did not expect though was to have so much bias in the papers.
For example, one paper (Marshalltown) puplished 3 of the 4 candidates interviews, and articles the week leading up to the election. What candidate did they leave out? William Meyers. I don’t believe (someone correct me if i am wrong) that they ever did publish any of the press releases that were sent to them.
That is freedom of the press I understand, but is it fair or UNbiased. NO

Marshalltown paper candidate interviews
FYI to Webster Co Dem —
The political reporter for the Marshalltown Times-Republican, Ken Black, was tied up in Nevada at a murder trial for some time, so getting the interviews done kept getting delayed. But they always had planned to run the 4th District candidates in the 5/31 or 6/1 editions.
The question is — did William Meyers’ campaign ever ASK the Marshalltown paper FOR an interview???
If you don’t ASK newspapers, it’s your own fault if they don’t ‘cover’ you, folks!
And sending out press releases, unless it’s really for something significant, doesn’t get you automatic coverage, either. You have to actively work WITH the media, both print and broadcast, if you want to ‘get your message out’.
By the way — William, in at least one instance with one of the major town’s daily papers’ political reporters, repeatedly left angry, snotty, demanding messages for the guy, to the extent that he shot himself in the foot! You just don’t behave that way — accusing someone of not covering you on purpose and demanding to be interviewd — and expect to get ‘good’ response from a reporter, duh!
And that wasn’t the only time it was out there that he had a very active and gigantic chip on his shoulder, either. Burning bridges doesn’t get you anywhere, especially in politics.
Some life lessons are definately not being learned here.

Just want to be clear, it’s William Meyers and Kurt Meyer. The possessive form of Meyers is Meyers’ and of Meyer is Meyer’s.
Please don’t get me wrong and think that I’m trying to nitpick. I just want to make sure everyone here is completely clear on which person is which.
