When you post a comment at Bleeding Heartland, your IP address appears in the comment.
If you sign up for a bunch of new usernames and post multiple comments in the same diary, pretending to be several different people, it will be obvious because the same IP address will appear in your comments purporting to come from different individuals.
Do not use sock puppets to create the impression that a lot of Bleeding Heartland users agree with you. Pick one username and stick with it for the purposes of writing diaries and commenting here.
Sock puppetry is grounds for banning at most blogs, and Bleeding Heartland is no exception.

IP addresses where?
I don’t see any IP addresses in the comments. Is this something that only admins can see?

Using IP address to identify sock-puppetry
Desmoinesdem, thank you. It’s nice to know that this here town has a sheriff.
That said, I’m sure you are aware that multiple people posting from one facility will show the same IP address for anyone posting from that facility. For instance, my wife and I are on two different computers posting from the same hotel.. our IP addresses will appear the same.
Just wanted you to know that I am not a sock puppet, and neither am I 😉

point taken
and that could be a issue if Bleeding Heartland has several readers/commenters in he same college dorm, for instance. I will talk to the blog administrator here about how to account for that.
Last night a bunch of brand-new users appeared in one diary, coming from the same IP address as a longtime commenter here. That is what prompted me to write this post.
