(So, Clinton wins. How about that? I think it is the first time in the modern era that all four early races have been won by four different folks. Wow. - promoted by Chris Woods)
Well, the results coming in have been surprising so far, at least on the Democratic side of things. Clinton up with a quarter of the vote in. Was there anyone predicting that?
You can track live results here from CNN.com. Jerome Armstrong’s got an interesting discussion going here saying that with Clinton making the contest this close in NH that we’ve still got a tough race going on to February 5th…and even beyond.
So, what’re your thoughts? How fluid are things? What’s next?

MSNBC Melodrama
I caught Clinton’s post-speech melodramatic punditry on MSNBC and was taken aback by them calling Clinton’s victory one of the greatest political upsets of all time. Had Richardson won tonight, maybe, but Clinton was leading in NH a week ago. Between that and the 20-minute discussion about Hillary’s tears yesterday have me questioning whether I should have stepped over to the dark side and ordered satellite television a few months back.
Admittedly, I was a wee bit surprised, thinking the independent factor would side with Obama, but I underestimated the gender gap in this particular election.
As Edwards said tonight: “Two down, 48 to go…”

I was also shocked by the result
I heard that both the Clinton and Obama internal polling had him winning by double digits. You never can tell.
Interesting that NH women went so heavily for Clinton. My theory is that since NH has elected women to every major office, women there are more excited about the prospect of a woman president and less fearful about a woman not being electable.
