Las Vegas debate open thread

As usual, I'll be taping the Democratic debate and watching it later (with very low expectations for the level of discussion, given Wolf Blitzer's role as moderator).

If you saw it, what did you think?

UPDATE: Added the Dodd clock. Wolf Blitzer is truly a horrendous moderator. Judy Woodruff should do all these.

SECOND UPDATE: CNN's post-debate coverage is atrocious. They've got Carville, who has been close to the Clintons for 15 years, talking about how well Hillary did, with no one mentioning that he is involved with Hillary's campaign.

They've got Gergen, who also worked for Bill Clinton, plus a Republican, JC Watts, who probably wants his party to be able to run against Hillary.

The professional journalists' questions were poor, and the inequitable allocation of time given to the candidates was inexcusable.

While I agree that they should have disclosed Carville’s work for the Hillary campaign, I disagree with your criticism of the other analysts.

First, how many Dem. talking heads are there out there who weren’t involved in some tenuous way with the Clinton administration?  How many who aren’t currently involved with a campaign? Would you be complaining as loudly if it had been Joe Trippi analyzing the debate instead of Carville?

And second, the vast general consensus is that Hillary won the debate. Gergen and Watts aren’t alone. Even the New York Times political page and Yepsen this morning say that Hillary is “back on her game”. Even if the Clintons are as bad as you constantly insinuate, I doubt their tentacles have that much reach.

    • if they had Trippi on

he would have identified himself as an Edwards advisor. If he tried to conceal that fact on tv, I would criticize it, just like I would criticize any network for bringing on Axelrod as a neutral analyst.

If they are going to have Carville, they should have representatives from the other campaigns.

And it’s ridiculous to give some of the candidates so little time to speak during the debate.

Like I said, Judy Woodruff is the only moderator all year who’s done a decent job.
